  • Travel Awards for Graduate Students and Postdocs to attend the Annual Society for Neuroscience Meeting in Washington
    Deadline for submission: May 20, 2008
    Submit the following information to pkatz@gsu.edu.
    1. SfN meeting abstract
    2. A one-page curriculum vitae including the following information: education, including the date at which nominee advanced to candidacy for the PhD, honors/awards, publications (abstracts and manuscripts)
    3. A one-page letter of recommendation from the faculty advisor

    Applications will be reviewed by the Atlanta Chapter council and nominees will be forwarded to the SfN. For more details about the graduate student awards, please visit www.sfn.org/gsta. More information about the postdoctoral trainee awards can be found at www.sfn.org/ptta.

  • New: Call for Nominations:  Science Educator Award
    The Science Educator Award is presented each year to an outstanding neuroscientist who has made significant contributions to educating the public about neuroscience. The award consists of a $5,000 honorarium, plaque, and money to cover travel expenses to the Society's annual meeting in Washington, DC. The Deadline for Nominations is June 12, 2008.     Georgia State faculty recognized by Society for Neuroscience: Kyle Frantz, assistant professor of biology, has won the Society for Neuroscience’s 2007 Next Generation Award. The award recognizes a junior faculty member who has made outstanding contributions to public outreach and scientific education.
    Frantz formally received the award at the society’s annual conference in San Diego last weekend. More...

  • Brain Awareness Month: In March 2007 The Atlanta Chapter for the Society of Neuroscience participates by educating K-12 students in the greater Atlanta area. In order to accommodate the large number of requests from area educators, we have extended BAW to Brain Awareness Month (BAM).  Last year we visited over 3600 students, and this year we hope to increase our numbers even more. Therefore, we will need many of you to volunteer your time to help with our outreach activities. For more information on how to volunteer click here.
