Institute on Neuroscience (ION)

This eight-week summer apprenticeship program is a joint initiative between the Center for Behavioral Neuroscience and the Science National Honor Society, Inc. ION, which was initiated in 2003, provides opportunities for high school students to participate in independent research projects, laboratory tours, lectures and enrichment activities. Students receive a stipend for completion of the program.
Eligibility criteria:
- Rising juniors and seniors at metro Atlanta high schools;
- Exemplary academic and extracurricular record;
- Grade point average of at least 3.0 (B average).
Application requirements:
- Completion of application available at http://www.cbn-atl.org;
- Written personal statement describing interest in studying neuroscience or pursuing a career in the field;
- Two letters of recommendation from teachers and/or advisors;
- High school transcript;
- Parental approval for students under age 18.
