Biologists link sexual behavior to social hierarchies in crayfish
Scientists have long known that groups of crayfish establish hierarchies, with the biggest and strongest fighting their way to the top. A new study by Georgia State biologists shows that fighting isn't the only way the crustaceans work out who is dominant, though – they also use sexual behavior, known technically as pseudocopulation.
