RTK Chemical Inventory Instructions

Each department having, storing or using hazardous chemicals and/or materials shall on a bi-annual basis supply to the Department of Safety and Risk Management Services, Right to Know Coordinator, a current Chemical Inventory listing of all hazardous chemicals and/or hazardous materials located on/in property controlled or used by the Department on or before May 1 st and November 1 st of each year.

Each RTK Inventory submitted must contain the following MINIMUM information (as shown on template):

•  The departmental name

•  The date the inventory was completed or updated

•  The name of the person responsible for the space

•  The telephone number of the person responsible for the space

•  The name of a person who should be contacted if there is an emergency within the space

•  The telephone number where the emergency response person can be located, especially after hours

•  The building name where the material is primarily located

•  The room number where the material is primarily located

•  The name of each chemical (or mixture/trade name) stored in the space

•  The CAS# of each chemical (or primary ingredient) stored in the space

•  The amount (total quantity) of each chemical (or mixture) stored in the space

Always use the CAS# provided on your chemical containers. If the container doesn't have a CAS# you can download the CAS# excel file.
