Requirements

- An undergraduate or master’s degree in biology, chemistry or a related field
- Transcripts of past academic performance (at least a 3.0/4.0 GPA)

- Two (2) letters of recommendation

- A strict minimum GPA of 3.30 (both cumulative and science). Scores below this cut off WILL NOT BE REVIEWED.
- A minimum GRE score in the 40th percentile in all three categories, or a minimum MCAT score of 490. DAT scores are not accepted. No exam score is required for applicants with a GPA greater than 3.5.
- Upload ALL Official Transcripts of past academic performances.

- For non-native speakers of English, official scores on the TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) or IELTS (International English Language Testing System)
- Completion of all of the premed prerequisites required by medical schools:
One year of General Biology with labs, one year of Physics, one year of English, and two years of Chemistry with labs (inclusive of Organic Chemistry) with a grade of C or better. Most applicants have grades of B or better. These cannot be online courses. - At least three letters of recommendation–two of which need to be from professors.
- Select the concentration in Medical Science as your first choice
Complete Biol 7240, 7250 and 7800 with a grade no lower than a B. Many applicants do not have these prerequisite premed courses, yet may be accepted into MBMS under CONDITIONAL STATUS with the contingency of completing these courses their FIRST semester of graduate school. Candidates can take other graduate courses, but before they are formally accepted into MBMS, they must complete these prerequisite courses. If comparable courses were taken as an undergraduate, they may be accepted as a substitution; however, this is subject to the discretion of the MBMS directors. Conditional students who do not fulfill the specifications of their acceptance will be terminated from the MBMS program. - $50 application fee

SELECT YOUR DESIRED PROGRAM UNDER BIOLOGY
There are four options, Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.), Master of Science (MS), Non-Degree, and Transient.
- Ph.D. applicants are required to choose a concentration.
- M.S. applicants who would not like a concentration still need to choose a concentration. The concentration can always be removed or changed upon admission.
- M.S. applicants, who would like to apply to the Medical Science conentration, please choose the Medical Science concetration.
SEND US YOUR OFFICIAL TRANSCRIPTS AND ANY RELEVANT TEST SCORES
Send us your official transcripts, GRE scores, and Statement of Purpose. International applicants must also submit TOEFL or IELTS scores. Ph.D. applicants must also upload a list of courses that you are interested in taking.
Transcripts may be forwarded to our office electronically (directly from the institution) via email at gradapplytranscripts@gsu.edu.

GET ACADEMIC OR PROFESSIONAL RECOMMENDATIONS
- Ph.D. applicants: Add 2 references, who are familiar with your academic or professional background. Make sure they know that they need to submit the letter online.
- M.S. applicants: Add 3 references, who are familiar with your academic or professional background. Make sure they know that they need to submit the letter online.

Graduate Admissions
TOEFL
- TOEFL greater than 100-> You are exempt from the GSTEP exam at international orientation and any other ESL course.
- 80 to 100->You must take the GSTEP and wither take ESL 7250 (Academic Listening/Speaking for Graduate Students) and/or 7350 (Academic Writing for Graduate Students).
- less than 80-> You may not be recommended for admission and if you are recommended for admission, you will have to take both ESL 7250 (Academic Listening/Speaking for Graduate Students) and 7350 (Academic Writing for Graduate Students).
IELTS
- IELTS greater than 7.5-> You are exempt from the GSTEP exam at international orientation and any other ESL course.

M.S. students can either be thesis or non-thesis. A thesis student is required to propose a thesis, write a thesis, and publish a thesis in order to graduate. Thesis students usually take longer to graduate because they have more requirements. A non-thesis student is required to complete a capstone project or paper, which can be published at an academic conference.

- M.S. applicants are required to pick a concentration on the application. Concentrations can be removed or changed upon admission.
- The Medical Science concentration of the M.S. program requires a separate application process than all other concentrations in the M.S. program.
- The Ph.D. program requires 33 credit hours of classroom coursework and 57 credit hours of research.
- The thesis M.S. program requires a minimum of 26 credit hours of classroom coursework and 14 credit hours of research.
- The non-thesis M.S. program requires a minimum of 36 credit hours of classroom coursework and 4 credit hours of non-thesis work.
