Program Overview

A graduate degree in Biology will open doors to many rewarding careers. The Biology Department offers Ph.D. and Master of Science graduate degrees. Students can also take graduate level courses in a non-degree seeking program.

There are many benefits to getting a graduate degree. First, it makes you a more competitive candidate regardless of whether it be for a job or another professional school. A graduate degree will also immediately increase your earning potential. Furthermore, getting a graduate degree helps you develop a professional network, which is crucial to getting jobs.

WHICH PROGRAM SHOULD I APPLY TO?

The Biology Department offers Ph.D. and Master of Science graduate degrees. Students can also take graduate level courses in a non-degree seeking program.

MASTER OF SCIENCE
You should apply here if:

  • You just finished your undergraduate and are unsure of what to do next
  • You would like to further your career in the biosciences
  • You have no idea what you want to do in the biociences
  • You would like to boost your GPA by taking graduate courses
  • You do not have a graduate degree and are planning to get a Ph.D.

MASTER OF SCIENCE IN MEDICAL SCIENCE
You should apply here if:

  • You think you might be ready for medical school, but are unsure
  • You would like to prepare yourself for medical school
  • You plan to work in an allied health field

PHD
You should apply here if:

  • You have prior research experience and would like to further your education
  • You plan to work in academia
  • You would like to further your career, but are overqualified for a Master of Science degree

NON-DEGREE
You should apply here if:

  • You would like to take graduate level courses, but are not ready for an actual graduate program
  • You have an undergraduate degree, but do not want to commit to a graduate program
  • You are interested in our courses, but are unsure if you want to pursue our graduate degrees
  • You would like to take classes after completing an undergraduate program, but don’t want to take undergraduate courses
