- If the new employee is here on a work or student visa, please work with International Student & Scholar Services to ensure that all international requirements are completed
- Complete the appropriate new hire paperwork prior to beginning any work
- Activate campusID and password
- Obtain PantherCard
- If the new employee is a student, they must (1) register for class (please refer to the Graduate Assistant Policy for requirements), (2) set up their student health insurance, and (3) pay their student balance.
Any faculty, staff, student, post-doctoral, or persons working in or visiting research areas at Georgia State University are required to complete the following trainings. These training certifications must be renewed annually online with refresher trainings. It is your responsibility to maintain current certifications.

Security Awareness Training
Please email Stephanie Young at [email protected] with the employee's name and campus id to get them added to the Research Safety iCollege page. The employee must complete the Security Awareness Training and Security Awareness quiz with an 80% or higher. Please notify Stephanie Young upon completion of quiz.
CITI Responsible Conduct in Research (RCR)
Post-docs, graduate students and undergraduate students involved in empirical research are required to undertake Responsible Conduct in Research (RCR) education and training as part of their requirements for graduation or employment.
Mandatory for all (must be completed within 6 months of employment)
Note: People being paid (salary or tuition waivers) by Georgia State and students, visitors and/or affiliates working in research are required to complete the following within six months of employment:

May be required at the discretion of the supervisor (must be completed within 6 months of employment)
Faculty, staff, postdocs and students, it is your responsibility to determine what training to take and to make sure you complete it before performing certain tasks or working in certain areas. Review the list below and note of the training you are required to take. Registration for training is available here.

If you will be working in or visiting laboratories that contain radioactivity or lasers

If you will be managing a lab space in Chematix

If you will be working in or visiting laboratories that contain biological materials (e.g. viruses, bacteria, DNA, etc.)
In general, the individual’s supervisor needs to send an email to [email protected] with the room#, building name, the individual’s name and 9 digit panther #. Indicate the following access needs:
- Building access
- Department controlled rooms access
The supervisor of the room needs to send an email to [email protected] with the room#, building name, the individual’s name and 9 digit panther #.
Being listed in GoSolar as the Instructor of Record automatically authorizes instructors to pick up a key from key control for keyed classrooms, and swipe access is supposed to be granted automatically by the university for swipe access classrooms.
Departments are not authorized to request access to non-department areas.
