- Biography
My research investigates the human impact on local microbial ecology. Recently, my projects have focused on the urban ecosystem, exploring the microbiome of the built environment, including green infrastructures, and their contributions to urban biodiversity. Through integrating public health and environmental health, I navigate the process of communicating science to diverse audiences. Student involvement in my research is important; therefore, I emphasize research skills in my courses as well as offer specific course-based research experiences (CUREs) for bioinformatics and environmental microbiology. I hope my passion for learning and protecting the environment challenges my students, friends, and family to consider their role as stewards of the environmental resources that support our lives daily.
